[Nobel Laureate John Jumper Announces Departure from DeepMind to Join Anthropic]
According to Golden Finance, on June 20, senior research scientist John Jumper announced on Friday that he will leave Google DeepMind to join the AI startup Anthropic. This marks the latest high-profile departure of core talent from the tech giant's AI research division. Jumper, who, alongside Google's Demis Hassabis, won the 2024 Nobel Prize, is best known as the co-developer of AlphaFold. This groundbreaking AI model has successfully predicted the structures of over 200 million proteins, significantly shortening the timelines required for biological and medical research.
Jumper wrote on social platform X: 'After nearly nine years of work, I have decided to leave Google DeepMind and join Anthropic.'
Tech giants like Meta and Google's parent company Alphabet, as well as emerging AI companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI, are locked in an intense talent war, competing to recruit top researchers and develop the next generation of AI systems.
