[EU Extends Economic Sanctions Against Russia for the First Time by 12 Months]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 19, a spokesperson for the President of the European Council stated that EU leaders have agreed to extend economic sanctions against Russia by 12 months. This marks the first time the EU has decided to extend sanctions against Russia for 12 months, deviating from the previous practice of six-month extensions. These sanctions include restrictions on trade, finance, energy, industry, transportation, and luxury goods. On December 22, 2025, the European Council issued a statement announcing the extension of economic sanctions against Russia until July 31, 2026.
