Trump claims that all European allies have offered to help with mine clearance but may not necessarily rely on them
According to Golden Finance, on June 17th, US President Trump claimed on Wednesday that European allies have pledged to assist the United States in clearing the Strait of Hormuz to ensure safe and unobstructed navigation; However, he did not specify which countries made this aid commitment. When asked which countries have offered to assist in clearing Iranian mines in the waterway, Trump replied, "All countries. Those countries with such equipment have indeed offered assistance, but every ally has promised to participate." He added that after reaching an agreement with Iran, the United States does not necessarily have to rely on Europe to successfully reopen the strait, but it would be a "good thing" if these countries could provide minesweepers for the operation. Trump has always regarded the rapid resumption of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as one of the main benefits of his agreement with Iran; However, it may take some time to ensure that the safety of the strait is sufficient to allow oil tankers to return to pre war levels of traffic.
