Syscoin releases bridge security incident report: funds recovered have been destroyed and cross layer parsing defects will be fixed
Odaily Planet Daily News: Syscoin has released a bridging security incident report, revealing details of the UTXO to NEVM bridging vulnerability. It is reported that this incident resulted in approximately 5 billion SYS being released without authorization on the UTXO side. The relevant funds have subsequently been returned to the official recovery address and destroyed through the standard OP-RETURN method, making it unusable by the protocol again. The reported SYS supply on the chain has been restored to the expected value, and the bridging function is still suspended. The team is completing the final review and repair. Syscoin pointed out that it will fix the cross layer parsing defect. The core lesson of this incident is that cross layer systems must uniformly standardize data processing, and any ambiguous bridging proofs should default to failure.
