[ByteDance Shifts AI Resource Focus from Consumer Products to Enterprise Services]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on June 17, citing LatePost, as of the first half of the year, Doubao had over 200 million daily active users, but its daily revenue was less than 1 million yuan, primarily derived from e-commerce commissions. By May of this year, based on the public API pricing of Volcano Engine, combined with the gross profit margin of Doubao's large model and user usage habits, it was estimated that Doubao's daily computing power costs reached tens of millions of yuan.
The report also noted that two months ago, a senior ByteDance executive visited Anthropic, and shortly after returning to China, the company began adjusting its AI resource allocation strategy, shifting its focus from consumer-facing products like Doubao to enterprise-oriented services.
The report stated that ByteDance's Seedance has already proven the viability of the enterprise services direction. Currently, Seedance's annual recurring revenue (ARR) has reached $2 billion (approximately 14.3 billion yuan), with monthly revenue exceeding 1 billion yuan, nearly covering the computing power costs generated by Doubao. The majority of its revenue comes from enterprise clients; however, Seedance's revenue growth rate has recently shown signs of slowing.
