[Governor of the Central Bank of Iran: Memorandum of Understanding Specifies U.S. Obligation to Unfreeze Iranian Assets] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 17, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, stated on June 16 local time that regarding the issue of unfreezing assets under the framework of the Iran-U.S. Memorandum of Understanding, all past experiences and historical cases were fully considered during the drafting of relevant provisions. Efforts were made to ensure that the mechanisms established in the agreement provide the highest level of safeguards to ensure these funds can be smoothly accessed and utilized. Hemmati said that the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding explicitly specify the U.S.'s obligations in unfreezing the assets, and these obligations are clear and enforceable. The U.S. will be required to fulfill its commitments. Hemmati also emphasized that after the Memorandum of Understanding is signed and implemented, necessary technical and banking-level verifications will be conducted to confirm whether the assets have indeed been unfrozen and are practically usable. Hemmati stated that the unfrozen funds belong to the assets of the Central Bank of Iran. The management, allocation, and usage of these funds will be decided within the legal framework of the central bank's authority. The central bank will arrange the usage of the funds based on national needs, economic conditions, and foreign exchange priorities. (CCTV News)
