Many Asian parents hope their children endure more hardships. I think it’s really unhealthy. At least, I could never wish that for my own kids. On the road to success, enduring hardships is inevitable. The more successful and outstanding you are, the more hardships you’ll face. But many Asian parents want their kids to endure hardships while working part-time, when they first enter society, during military service, and on all sorts of paths. It’s really unhealthy. The truth is, those who truly succeed, change the world, and create massive wealth endure hardships on the path of studying and entrepreneurship. To become a successful trader or investor, you must endure inner struggles and torment to improve. But pointless suffering? That’s unnecessary. There’s no need to force Shohei Ohtani to endure more hardships while studying. There’s no need to force Elon Musk to endure more hardships while practicing sports. Did it make sense for Terry Gou to endure more hardships while working part-time? Of course, I didn’t need to endure more hardships while working or during military service either. I’m not making that kind of money, and those experiences wouldn’t have helped me much anyway.
