A man in France has been charged with encryption 'wrench attack' On June 15th, according to Decrypt, a 32 year old man from Nancy, France, was officially charged with attempted armed extortion, attempted kidnapping by an organized gang, and conspiracy to commit crimes for allegedly participating in a "wrench attack" against cryptocurrency holders. Three attackers impersonated police officers and carried out a violent attack on a couple's home, attempting to steal $20000 worth of cryptocurrency. This attack occurred after the data breach of the French encrypted tax platform Waltio, which exposed the email, transaction profit and loss, and encrypted asset balance information of about 50000 users of the platform. The police seized plastic zip ties and 5 euro banknotes at the scene, and witnesses claimed that the attacker was in possession of an Uzi submachine gun.
