Standard Chartered plans to establish a gold warehouse in Hong Kong On June 15th, according to Caixin, Zeng Jizhi, the head of market finance and strategic clients for Standard Chartered Hong Kong, Greater China, and North Asia, stated that Standard Chartered is studying the feasibility of setting up its own gold storage facility in Hong Kong and is considering different site selection options. If the plan is implemented, Hong Kong is expected to become the first market for Standard Chartered Group to set up its own gold storage, and also one of the few banks to set up its own storage in Hong Kong. At present, Standard Chartered has provided services such as physical gold trading and related option financing to commercial and investment banking (CIB) clients. If its own gold warehouse is established, it can provide comprehensive gold trading services from executing transactions and settlements to warehousing.
