The strategic advisor to the head of the Iranian and U.S. negotiation delegations, Mehdi Mohammadi, stated that the proposed agreement between Tehran and Washington explicitly preserves and recognizes Iran's jurisdiction over the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Republic currently provides services in the Strait of Hormuz, including security, navigation, and protection services, and charges fees for these services.
Mohammadi also mentioned a proposed $300 billion development and reconstruction fund. 'The text uses the term "reconstruction," which implies repairing the damage caused by war,' he said. 'Although the text does not explicitly use the word "compensation," it is clear that when the other party talks about reconstruction, they are referring to compensating for the damage caused to Iran during the war.'
If the Iranian reports are true, Trump really embarrassed himself this time. He claimed the Strait of Hormuz was completely free. Now, not only is there $300 billion in compensation, but the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran's control, and Iran is charging fees for it.
