[Eighth Defendant Indicted in Winnetka, U.S. Crypto-Related Home Invasion Case]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on June 14, federal prosecutors in the Northern District of Illinois announced on June 10 that an eighth defendant has been indicted in connection with a crypto-related home invasion case that occurred in Winnetka, a northern suburb of Chicago. Prosecutors stated that the incident took place on March 8, 2026, when the suspects allegedly posed as food delivery personnel to lure the residents into opening the door. They then forced their way into the home at gunpoint, restrained the victims, and demanded access to a safe, computers, and online accounts holding cryptocurrency. Several defendants had already been indicted in this case, facing charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and conspiracy to commit robbery, with the former carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
