[UK Reform Party Leader Reduces Media Activities Amid Investigation into £5 Million Crypto Donor]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that UK Reform Party leader Nigel Farage has scaled back public media activities in recent weeks due to a parliamentary investigation into his failure to declare a £5 million (approximately $6.4 million) donation from cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne ahead of the 2024 election. Data shows that Nigel Farage held 20 press conferences in the first four months of this year, but after the undeclared donation was exposed on April 29, he held only one press conference in May. Critics have pointed out that the Reform Party announced several crypto-friendly policies after the election, including plans to reduce the capital gains tax rate on crypto assets from 24% to 10% and to establish a national Bitcoin reserve at the Bank of England. Following the announcement of an investigation into the matter by the UK Parliament's Standards Commissioner, the Reform Party removed its digital finance policy draft document from its website by the end of May.
