Four states, one boundary at a time Stake accounts only change phase at epoch boundaries. Between boundaries, your transactions queue up; on the boundary, the runtime moves you forward. There are exactly four resting points: > Inactive: The account holds lamports but no validator pointer. Either fresh from initialise, or fully cooled down after a deactivate. > Activating: Delegation is signed and committed, but the next epoch boundary has not yet arrived. Stake counts as effective only after that boundary. > Active: Stake is voting through the chosen validator and earning a share of the network's per-epoch issuance. Voter and authorities can rotate without leaving this state. > Deactivating: A deactivate has been signed and the next boundary has passed.
