[The U.S. invests $2 billion in quantum computing, quantum threats accelerate the approach to Bitcoin encryption systems] According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Department of Commerce recently signed a letter of intent to invest over $2 billion in nine quantum computing companies to build quantum computing infrastructure capable of breaking Bitcoin, Ethereum, and mainstream internet encryption. Among them, IBM will receive $1 billion to build a quantum-grade wafer plant, GlobalFoundries will receive $375 million, and the remaining funds will be allocated to seven quantum hardware companies.
