[US Media Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of US-Iran Agreement Negotiations: Three Major Disputes Narrowed Under Qatar's Mediation]
BlockBeats News, June 12, according to Axios, former President Trump has repeatedly claimed that an agreement is close to being reached, though Tehran has yet to confirm his latest statements. However, three sources briefed on the negotiations stated that during talks between Iranian officials and Qatari mediators on Wednesday, key disputes were resolved. The negotiations continued in Tehran until late Wednesday night, with Qatar's envoy Ali Al-Sulaiti and Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi working to bridge the remaining gaps between the US and Iran.
Sources indicated that both the Qatari and Iranian sides believed on Wednesday that they had reached a draft agreement that the US would also accept. Disputes on three critical issues have been narrowed: the mechanism for releasing Iran's frozen assets—this being Iran's top priority; arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day ceasefire period; and how to negotiate Iran's nuclear program during the 60-day ceasefire period.
Sources further noted that Iranian officials informed multiple countries on Thursday that the Tehran talks had resulted in a preliminary agreement, but final approval is still required from Supreme Leader Mojtaba. (Jin10)
