Coinbase launches AI proxy tool to support AI proxy execution of transactions and payments
BlockBeats News: On June 12th, Coinbase announced the launch of Coinbase for Agents, which allows users to directly connect AI agents to their Coinbase accounts, enabling them to trade, pay, and execute workflows on behalf of users within the limits set by the users. The product is currently available in MCP and CLI formats. Users can connect commonly used AI agents such as ChatGPT and Claude to Coinbase accounts, enabling the agents to have both financial reasoning and execution capabilities. AI agents can conduct encrypted spot and derivative trading within the authorized scope of users, and perform operations such as portfolio rebalancing, limit order trading, and fund efficiency management based on user set goals. In the future, Coinbase for Agents will expand to stocks, index funds, predictive markets, and commodity trading. Coinbase also plans to enable x402 support for the product, allowing agents to make payments for proprietary data, computing resources, statistics, images, and services. In terms of security controls, Coinbase stated that users can allow agents to run in independent investment portfolios to avoid accessing other positions; In the future, it will also support setting specific rules such as maximum transaction size, interaction objects, and expenditure limits. Coinbase stated that the relevant payments will be subject to Coinbase's existing transaction monitoring and KYT checks. In addition, Coinbase stated that Coinbase Advisor has been integrated into the Coinbase App, providing users with direct advice and guidance. Coinbase Advisor is a financial advisor registered with SEC/CFTC. Coinbase states that Coinbase for Agents, Coinbase Advisor, and Coinbase Payments form the starting point of its agent-based financial product portfolio for consumers and businesses.
