American version of a billion-dollar subsidy? OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGTP, is reportedly considering significantly lowering the prices of its AI services to win customers from its biggest competitor, Anthropic. Part of the reason is that they learned Anthropic is about to start a price war, so they’re preparing to cut prices first to get ahead. This will be the first price war showdown between these two companies on the eve of their IPOs.
