Anthropic CEO: The government should have the right to prevent the deployment of new models
Odaily Planet Daily News: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodai stated that if new artificial intelligence models pose specific risks, the government should have the right to prevent their deployment. Amodai published a long article on Wednesday advocating that artificial intelligence models should undergo mandatory third-party testing to assess the risks they may pose in multiple fields. He wrote that if artificial intelligence is deemed to have "unacceptable risks," then "governments should have the power to prevent or contain its deployment. This is one of Amodai's strongest statements to date regarding the strengthening of artificial intelligence regulation. Amodai wrote, "I believe that at least at this exponential stage of development, the most appropriate analogy at present is cars, airplanes, or drugs. These technologies are crucial to the modern economy, but if designed or used improperly, they can also lead to a large number of deaths." Anthropic had previously warned the outside world that its artificial intelligence model Mythos has the ability to discover and exploit critical software vulnerabilities, so the company has decided to only open the model to a few partners. This week, Anthropic released a new version that removes related network security attack capabilities. (Golden Ten)
