[Strategist: U.S. Inflation Remains Elevated, but Cooling Core Data Provides Breathing Room for the Fed] Jin10 News, June 10 – Seema Shah, Chief Global Strategist at Principal Asset Management, stated that the U.S. inflation rate remains at an unsettlingly high level of 4%, but weaker-than-expected core data has indeed alleviated some pressure. Since rising energy prices are the main driving factor and housing costs have eased, we have yet to see clear signs of broader second-round effects. This should allow the Federal Reserve to remain patient. Although the market seems to have overestimated the likelihood of further rate hikes this year, the risk still exists, and today’s data has not eliminated that risk.
