[Institution: The European Central Bank May Favor Consecutive Rate Hikes in Summer Rather Than Waiting Until September] Jin10 News, June 10 – Chief investment officers at Amundi have stated that the European Central Bank (ECB) is likely to implement two consecutive rate hikes this summer instead of waiting until September. The report noted, 'We expect the ECB to carry out two interim rate hikes this year, in June and July respectively.' The institution indicated that the primary driver of this expectation is the continued rise in inflation expectations. 'We believe the ECB is increasingly concerned that inflation expectations may become entrenched, especially as survey data consistently shows a growing willingness among businesses to raise sales prices.' At the same time, the institution believes there is currently no compelling evidence of significant second-round effects. 'Therefore, we think the ECB should not initiate a prolonged tightening cycle.'
