[US Media Reveals Four Key Issues in US-Iran Nuclear Negotiations: Iran to Suspend Uranium Enrichment for 15 Years, Dilute Existing Enriched Uranium, Dismantle Nuclear Facilities, and Accept 'Surprise Inspections'] According to a report by Golden Finance on June 10, citing The New York Times, President Trump's aides have recently been negotiating with Iran on four core aspects of a nuclear agreement. The US believes the agreement would halt Iran's nuclear program for approximately 15 years. US officials stated that the negotiations have resulted in a vague framework for an agreement, provided that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and hardline politicians do not overthrow Iran's chief negotiator, Foreign Minister Araghchi, or undermine the US proposal for more in-depth talks in Switzerland this summer. According to the report, the four main points of the US-Iran nuclear agreement negotiations are as follows: 1. Long-term suspension of uranium enrichment activities. The US has consistently demanded that Iran agree to cease all uranium enrichment activities for at least 20 years. Iran proposed a 10-year suspension, but US officials believe Iran may ultimately accept a 15-year term. 2. Dilution of Iran's existing enriched uranium stockpile. US officials stated that the US would collaborate with the International Atomic Energy Agency to dilute Iran's existing stockpile of enriched uranium. Iranian officials, however, indicated that the US could only participate as an observer. 3. Dismantling of Iran's nuclear facilities. The US has demanded that Iran dismantle its three major nuclear facilities—Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Iran has discussed dismantling two of these facilities but insists on retaining one to demonstrate that it has not abandoned its so-called "right to enrichment." This issue may become a sticking point. 4. Iran's acceptance of 'surprise inspections.' The US hopes that international inspectors will be able to conduct surprise inspections at any time and any location within Iran. It remains unclear whether the Iranian government is willing to accept this demand.
