[Bank of Japan to Raise Interest Rate to 1.0% in June] According to a report by Jinse Finance, the Bank of Japan plans to decide on raising interest rates at the monetary policy meeting scheduled for June 15-16. To address the risk of rising prices, the policy rate will be increased from the current 0.75% to 1.0%. Additionally, regarding the quarterly reduction of government bond purchases, the Bank of Japan has begun coordinating to cease the reductions after April 2027. It is expected that Kazuo Ueda and other leaders of the Bank of Japan will propose the rate hike at the meeting on the 16th, with the decision to raise rates finalized by a majority vote among the nine policy board members. As for the plan to stop reducing government bond purchases, more than half of the policy board members have expressed support, and coordination with the government is currently underway.
