**[Humanity: Over $36 Million in Tokens Stolen and Sold, Attack Originated from Employee's Laptop Being Compromised]** BlockBeats News, June 9 — Humanity released an update on the $31 million attack incident. As of now, over $36 million worth of tokens on Ethereum and BNB Chain have been stolen and sold. The incident originated from an employee's laptop being compromised, leading to the leak of three out of six Gnosis Safe owner keys controlling the ProxyAdmin of the Hyperlane bridge. The attacker used these keys to transfer ownership of ProxyAdmin to their own wallet, then maliciously upgraded the bridge contract, stealing approximately 141.2 million H tokens in a single transaction. Additionally, three out of five BNB Chain Safe owner keys were also leaked. The attacker executed a similar operation on BNB Chain, deploying a malicious implementation with unlimited minting capabilities and directly minting 200 million H tokens into their wallet in two batches. Humanity stated that all deposits and withdrawals on affected cross-chain platforms have been suspended and that they are working with all relevant parties to minimize losses. Beyond conducting an internal investigation, Humanity also mentioned that they are cooperating closely with law enforcement to investigate the incident and recover some of the stolen funds.
