Humility confirms stolen funds amount to $36 million and is cooperating with police investigation According to a report by Golden Finance, on June 9th, Humility released a statement regarding a hacker attack, stating that on the evening of June 8th Beijing time, the H token was subjected to a coordinated attack on the Ethereum and BSC chains. It has been confirmed that over $36 million in assets have been stolen and sold off. Preliminary investigation shows that the incident originated from an employee's computer being hacked, resulting in the leakage of the key to the multi signature wallet that controls Hyperlane Bridge ProxyAdmin. Among them, the attacker obtained three private keys from six holders of Gnosis Safe on the Ethereum chain, transferred ownership of ProxyAdmin to their controlled wallet, upgraded the bridging contract to a malicious implementation, and subsequently transferred approximately 141.2 million H tokens through a single transaction. At the same time, the attacker also took control of three private keys among the five holders of the Safe wallet on the BSC chain, took over ProxyAdmin in the same way, and deployed malicious contracts with unlimited issuance capabilities, issuing 200 million H tokens to their own wallet in two installments. Humility stated that all deposit and withdrawal operations of the affected bridging services have been suspended, and they are working with relevant partners such as the exchange to reduce losses. They are also cooperating with the police in their investigation and attempting to recover some of the stolen funds.
