[Institution: Low Probability of Bank of Japan Governor Sending Overly Hawkish Signals]
Odaily Planet Daily News - Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities believes that it is unlikely for Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda to send overly hawkish signals (beyond what the market has already priced in) during next week's press conference. Four economists and strategists from the institution noted in a report that the overnight index swap market has largely priced in expectations for the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates to 1.25% by the end of the year. Additionally, the recent rise in uncertainty surrounding the Middle East situation and some signs of instability in the stock market were highlighted. The report also predicts that the Bank of Japan may raise the policy rate by 25 basis points to 1.00% at its June meeting. (Jin10)
