[IC3 Research: Limited Role of Cryptography in Addressing AI Trust and Payment Issues]
According to The Block, a report released by IC3 researchers from top universities such as Cornell University and Carnegie Mellon University points out that claims about cryptography solving AI's biggest challenges are often exaggerated. Cryptography has limited utility in addressing AI trust and payment issues. The research highlights that providing AI agents with crypto wallets does not make them smarter or more resistant to human manipulation. Wallets only enable AI agents to perform automated transactions and access on-chain infrastructure without human approval.
Regarding the distinction between AI-generated and human-generated content, while blockchain is suitable for timestamping and registering specific digital content, it cannot determine how the content was created, requiring external tools for verification. If external tools make errors and those errors are recorded on-chain, the mistakes will also be permanently preserved. Blockchain's role is limited to providing high-integrity registration records for certain content.
