According to Korean media ChosunBiz, South Korean police are investigating Korean users of the prediction market platform Polymarket on suspicion of illegal gambling. The Gangwon Police Agency is conducting the investigation under the direction of the National Police Agency, marking the first domestic investigation into Polymarket users in South Korea. Under current South Korean law, placing bets on platforms other than Sports Toto, operated by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, is considered illegal. Users involved may face fines of up to 10 million won under Article 246 of the Criminal Act. Reports indicate that Polymarket is currently accessible without the need for IP circumvention, allowing Korean users to place bets using USD stablecoins. Previously, the platform featured predictions related to South Korea's June 3 local elections, with betting volumes reaching hundreds of billions of won. https://(wublock123.com)/news/korea-police-investigate-polymarket-domestic-users-illegal-gambling-62253
