[Federal Reserve's Logan: Fed May Need to Raise Rates This Year to Curb Prices]
Jin10 News, June 4 – Federal Reserve's Logan stated that Fed officials might need to raise interest rates later this year to bring the inflation rate down to the 2% target level. She noted that the U.S. labor market is 'broadly balanced,' investments in the field of artificial intelligence are booming, and financial conditions remain 'loose.' However, she added that the current inflation trend does not appear to be moving toward the Fed's 2% target.
'These conditions suggest that the current monetary policy is not exerting a restraining effect on the economy,' she said. 'What increasingly concerns me is that to fully restore price stability and appropriately balance the two aspects of the Fed's "dual mandate," it may be necessary to take rate hike measures later this year.'
