[Trump Signs Executive Order to Promote Advanced AI Innovation and Security While Strengthening Cyber Defense]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on June 2, the White House issued a presidential executive order aimed at promoting advanced AI innovation and security. The order mandates prioritizing the strengthening of cybersecurity for national security systems, federal government information systems, and Department of War information systems within 30 days, with CISA tasked to issue relevant operational directives.
The order also requires the Treasury Department to lead the establishment of an AI cybersecurity coordination mechanism, collaborating with the AI industry and critical infrastructure operators to conduct software vulnerability scanning, validation, remediation, and patch distribution.
Additionally, within 60 days, a framework for assessing and voluntarily cooperating on "covered frontier models" must be developed, explicitly stating that no mandatory licensing or approval requirements may be imposed for the development, release, or distribution of new AI models.
