Chinese man in Phnom Penh killed after extorting $2 million in cryptocurrency
A 53 year old Chinese real estate company owner in Phnom Penh, Cambodia was kidnapped from an apartment parking lot by three suspects. The suspects then used the victim's phone to contact his wife and extort $2 million in cryptocurrency. The wife claimed that she was unable to pay, and the suspect went missing the next morning after sending the last message.
The victim died after being tortured, and the body was left in the car, which was abandoned near the garbage dump in Dangkao district. It was discovered by a truck driver on the morning of May 30th. The police have confirmed a kidnapping, extortion, and murder case and are currently pursuing three suspects.
