The owner of a Chinese real estate company was kidnapped and killed because his family did not pay a ransom of $2 million in cryptocurrency
According to Cambodian media reports, Yang Weixin, 53, the boss of a Chinese real estate company, was kidnapped by three suspect in the parking lot of an apartment in Phnom Penh on the evening of May 29. At 3am on May 30th, the suspect used the victim's mobile phone to send a message to his wife, demanding a ransom of $2 million in cryptocurrency. The suspect was beaten and suffocated because his family failed to pay. At 11:00 am on the same day, the victim's body was found in the back seat of a Toyota Prius sedan on a barren land in Lango District. The suspect went missing after sending the last message at around 9am, stating 'this is it'. At present, the police have intervened in the investigation.
