[Tian Jia: Quantum Computing Expected to Pose a Threat to Bitcoin Addresses with Exposed Public Keys in 5-15 Years]
On May 30, the Huobi HTX Masterclass VIP private session titled 'AI + Trading: From Theory to Practice' was held in Shanghai. Early Bitcoin miner and pyra.io CTO Tian Jia shared insights on the development of quantum computing and the impact of AI on trading. He believes that the average time for quantum computing to threaten 'Bitcoin addresses with exposed public keys' is 7-8 years, with a range of 5-15 years. The required number of logical qubits is between 1,200 and 2,400, while the number of physical qubits needed is less than 500,000. Furthermore, Bitcoin has defensive measures, as it can migrate to PQC, or post-quantum cryptography, though this comes with significant challenges, such as the issue of locked Satoshi coins.
