[Galaxy: $4 Billion Invested by Venture Capital Firms in Crypto and Blockchain-Related Private Companies in Q1]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on May 29, Galaxy Digital released its Q1 2026 cryptocurrency and blockchain venture capital research. After experiencing strong growth in Q4 2025, cryptocurrency venture capital activity cooled in Q1 2026 but remained better than the downturn period of 2023-2024. Venture capital firms invested a total of $4 billion into 355 crypto and blockchain-related private companies. The total investment amount decreased by about half quarter-over-quarter, while the number of deals dropped by approximately 15%, indicating that this decline was driven by a reduction in large funding rounds rather than a widespread drying up of startup financing.
The United States continued to dominate in terms of investment capital and deal volume, accounting for 70.2% of the total investment amount and 43.5% of the deal count. Cryptocurrency venture capital firms raised the most funds, securing approximately $2.6 billion, which accounted for about three-fifths of all investments in the first quarter. Wallet companies ranked second with approximately $270 million in funding, followed by infrastructure, tokenization, artificial intelligence, Web3/NFT/DAO/metaverse/gaming, payments/rewards, and compliance-related companies.
