WARNING ISSUED TO AMERICANS PLANNING EUROPE VACATIONS American travelers are reporting delays, confusion, and nearly missed flights at airports in Europe following the full implementation of the European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES), a new biometric border control program. The EES, which began operations on October 12, 2025, replaces traditional passport stamping with digital records, including the collection of fingerprints and facial images. It has now been rolled out across 29 European countries in the Schengen Area and has been fully operational since April 10, according to the European Commission, the EU’s executive branch.
