[Vitalik: More People Should Understand the Privacy Protocol Interfold]
Ethereum founder Vitalik stated that more people should understand the privacy protocol Interfold, which he claims has essentially realized the vision he has been advocating for nearly a decade around MACI (Minimum Anti-Collusion Infrastructure). Interfold is designed for scenarios such as voting and sealed auctions. It is based on threshold encryption and homomorphic encryption, where users submit votes with eligibility zero-knowledge proofs on-chain. The system performs aggregated calculations in an FHE environment before threshold decryption.
Vitalik mentioned that this solution can provide voter anonymity, censorship resistance, and result correctness verification under Ethereum's security guarantees. However, its liveness and anti-coercion capabilities depend on the honest proportion of an M-of-N committee. Currently, it primarily supports additive vote counting, with complex computations still constrained by the cost of ZK-over-FHE.
