[Ministry of Commerce Responds to Progress in China-U.S. Tariff Negotiations: Both Trade Teams to Agree on Specific Arrangements and Expedite Implementation]
On the 28th, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong responded to a question regarding the progress of China-U.S. tariff negotiations during a regular press conference. He stated that tariffs have always been one of the key issues in China-U.S. economic and trade relations. Under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, the China-U.S. trade teams have engaged in in-depth communication on tariff issues and have made arrangements regarding bilateral tariffs. I would like to reiterate the hope that the U.S. side will honor its commitments and create favorable conditions for expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. Meanwhile, both sides have, in principle, agreed to discuss a reciprocal tariff reduction framework under the Trade Council, involving products of equal scale, each amounting to $30 billion or more. The trade teams of both sides will maintain close communication, agree on specific arrangements, and expedite implementation. (CCTV News)
