Could frequent use of AI make people lazier in their thinking?
This was a question put to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang by CNA. His answer: just like the internet, AI won't make us lazier or less smart. If anything, it makes us busier and more ambitious.
Yes, we are scared. Scared that AI will take jobs, dumb down the next generation, and replace human effort with shortcuts. But the more likely reality is that AI simply amplifies what you already have. Give it to a motivated person and watch what they build. Give it to someone already coasting and it changes very little.
The driven will use AI as leverage to move faster, work smarter, and create more value than ever before.
Disruption is real. Entire industries are being reshaped, and companies are already cutting roles that AI can handle cheaper and faster. That pain should not be brushed aside.
But disruption is not decline. Every major technological shift, from the printing press to the personal computer to the internet, wiped out some jobs and created entirely new ones nobody had imagined. AI is no different.
The question was never really whether AI makes us lazier. The real question is what you choose to do with it.(Lark Davis)
