[Optimism Mainnet Introduces Stake-Based Priority Mechanism for the First Time, Launches Four-Week Experiment]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on May 26, according to official news from Optimism, the OP mainnet has adjusted its transaction ordering rules for the first time starting today. Previously, the sequencer only used the 'highest priority gas fee first' mechanism. Now, a stake-based priority option has been added. This experiment will last for four weeks (until June 23) and was approved earlier this month by the Optimism governance body. Participation is optional, with the condition that users must stake no less than 100,000 OP tokens to the PolicyEngineStaking contract.
The experiment will proceed in two phases:
- Phase 1 (Week 1) will use a FIFO (First In, First Out) ordering mechanism, where staking amounts exceeding the minimum threshold will not affect priority.
- Phase 2 (Weeks 2-4) will switch to a stake-duration-weighted priority gas multiplier mechanism, where the longer the staking duration, the higher the priority.
For users not participating in the experiment, the transaction ordering rules will remain unchanged, and the PGA (Priority Gas Auction) mechanism will continue to operate as usual.
