[Indonesia Blocks Polymarket Citing Online Gambling Violations]
According to a report by Reuters on May 25, as covered by Jinse Finance, Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital announced the blocking of the prediction market platform Polymarket, classifying it as an online gambling platform. The ministry stated that its activities 'involve betting and speculative behavior on uncertain events,' which violates Indonesian law.
Previously, Polymarket launched a betting market regarding when Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto would 'step down,' which garnered widespread attention on Indonesian social media. Communication Ministry official Alexander Sabar stated that the government is investigating all social media accounts related to Polymarket.
