According to the official blog, Tether announced its collaboration with the Georgian government to launch GEL₮, the official stablecoin of the Georgian Lari. This marks one of the first joint efforts to place a national currency directly onto the digital asset track under a specifically designed stablecoin regulatory framework. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that, together with visionary partners like Tether, Georgia is laying the foundation for a more interconnected, transparent, and digitally empowered financial world. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino remarked that stablecoins are becoming part of the global financial infrastructure, and Georgia has taken the lead in creating a robust regulatory framework for digital assets and stablecoins.
