Keyrock, Coinbase, and Tempo jointly released a report stating that over the past 12 months, AI agent payments have evolved from a concept to a mature ecosystem. Between May 2025 and April 2026, settlement amounts are expected to reach $73 million, with 176 million transactions. As of the end of Q1 this year, over 104,000 AI agents have been registered across more than 15 directories and registries, with an average transaction size of about $0.31. The report highlights that traditional payment networks struggle to support microtransactions under $1 due to fixed fees, making stablecoins the default settlement layer for machine commerce. Among these, over 98% of AI agent settlements use Circle's USDC.
