I want to assure Jamaicans that the Government is moving ahead with the rollout of police camera systems across the JCF. This includes JamaicaEye, cameras in patrol vehicles, and body-worn cameras for officers. We already have about 1,000 body cameras in use, another 1,000 being procured, and more to come. This rollout also requires training, internet connectivity, storage systems, and support services to make sure the footage can be safely used as evidence. Our goal is for officers interacting with the public to have cameras assigned to them, while using the right camera systems for different operations. We are strengthening accountability, transparency, and public trust as we continue modernising the police force.(Andrew Holness)
