Bankless co-founder sold all their ETH, Harvard dumped after a brief holding period, and an Ethereum Foundation researcher resigned... Is this Ethereum's darkest hour? Oh, wait, remember a few years ago when $SOL dropped below $10? The 'Solana is Dead' FUD was even louder back then—big influencers jumping ship, institutions selling off, capital outflows. This is just a natural part of a token's cyclical bottom. Honestly, no need to panic: 1) The price of $ETH is still above $2,000, firmly holding its spot as the #2 mainstream crypto. There's no unexpected black swan event pushing the FUD to a breaking point. Most of the current FUD stems from the market's overly high expectations not being met this cycle, which isn't really tied to Ethereum's fundamentals. 2) Ethereum does carry the historical baggage of failed narratives around Layer 2 ecosystems, staking, re-staking, account abstraction, dAI, etc., which have produced wave after wave of ideas without PMF (Product-Market Fit). But while the ecosystem may seem stagnant, the Ethereum mainnet has become increasingly secure, lightweight, fast in iteration, and stable. This actually makes it stronger for future narratives like RWA (Real World Assets), asset tokenization, and dAI. There's no need to be overly bearish. 3) Right now, the market is focused on the story of capital efficiency in trading, which is why Hyperliquid has emerged as the dark horse of this cycle. But HYPE's success doesn't mean $ETH has failed. Fundamentally, they're in completely different lanes. HYPE has gained traction by attracting off-chain capital and positioning itself as the 'Nasdaq on-chain.' But what about the next phase, after the CLARITY Act is passed and TradFi and DeFi fully merge? A fully decentralized, secure, open, and transparent protocol like Ethereum will ultimately become the go-to choice for large capital with differing ideologies to settle and thrive. So, no rush—let the dust settle for a bit.
