According to Wu Blockchain, an a16z crypto article points out that there is a fundamental trade-off between low latency and censorship resistance in blockchain protocols. In standard Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus, when more than one-fifth of validators might act maliciously, it takes at least 3 rounds of communication to commit a block under normal conditions. Meanwhile, BFT protocols with strong censorship resistance guarantees require at least 5 rounds of communication. a16z states that these additional rounds provide stronger guarantees for users: censored transactions no longer need to wait for an uncertain number of blocks but can be guaranteed inclusion within 5 rounds under normal conditions.
