[Iran: Focus of Negotiations is to End the War, Working to Finalize Memorandum of Understanding] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on May 23, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) that the current focus of negotiations is to promote the end of the 'imposed war,' with no in-depth discussions on nuclear issues for now. Iran and the U.S. are working to finalize a memorandum of understanding. Baghaei mentioned that the current stage of negotiations does not involve nuclear issues or the specific details of lifting sanctions. However, Iran's demands for the removal of sanctions, particularly the release of frozen assets, have been explicitly included in the 14-point memorandum of understanding text. He explained that Iran is refraining from delving into nuclear issues at this stage because it believes that nuclear issues have twice been used as excuses to wage war against Iran. At present, Iran is focusing on promoting the end of 'wars on all fronts,' including Lebanon. Discussions on nuclear issues may be revisited in the next phase, possibly 30 or 60 days later.
