CFTC Chair: No Longer Allowing Government to Intervene and Seize People's Crypto
On May 13, 2026, CFTC Chair Mike Selig @MichaelSelig stated in an interview with Mark Moss that it is crucial to create a forward-looking and thriving space for crypto assets. He emphasized that the government should no longer intervene and seize people's crypto assets and Bitcoin. Addressing concerns about whether the government might declare cryptocurrencies illegal, he believes the likelihood of such an event happening in the U.S. today is extremely low. He also mentioned that to prevent a repeat of the previous administration's 'Operation Chokepoint 3.0,' it is essential to establish written legal guidelines, such as advancing the *Clarity Act* and the *Genius Act*.
