Polymarket under attack?
According to real-time tracking by ZachXBT and other on chain investigators, as well as official clarification from Josh Stevens, Vice President of Engineering at Polymarket:
Polymarket's UMA CTF Adapter (used to handle market analysis/oracle resolution contracts) has indeed seen a large number of POL (formerly MATIC) being quickly transferred on the Polygon network.
At present, it has been confirmed that the amount of loss exceeds $520K to $660K (continuously increasing), and the attacker's address is 0x8F98075db5d6C620e8D420A8c516E2F2059d9B91. Every few seconds, 5K to 10K POL is transferred out.
Important clarification: This is not a contract hack of the smart contract, but rather an attack on the "old private key" of the Polymarket team, which was obtained by attackers who used legally signed transactions to sweep away funds. The contract itself has no bugs. @oddsnack
Impact on users:
This is only an Adapter contract used for parsing, not a contract for core trading or user betting funds.
Your Polymarket's main betting positions currently appear to be safe.
But many people are suggesting suspending trading, reducing exposure, and waiting for official announcements before taking action.
The Polymarket team is currently working on it and there is no complete official statement yet, but someone has confirmed on X that it is a private key issue. The incident occurred today (May 22, 2026) and is an immediate development.
If you have funds on it, it is recommended to go to Polygonscan to check your wallet, or wait for the official X account of Polymarket (@ Polymarket) to confirm security before proceeding. Do you need me to help you check for a specific address or the latest updates?
