[Samsung Chip Employees Estimated to Receive an Average Bonus of $340,000] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on May 21, Samsung Electronics reached a last-minute agreement with its labor union to avoid a strike. The company is expected to distribute approximately 40 trillion won ($26.6 billion) in bonuses to its chip employees this year. Samsung's semiconductor division has a total of 78,000 employees. Employees in different departments will receive varying amounts of bonuses, but based on plan terms and estimated operating profit for 2026, the average employee is expected to receive 513 million won, approximately $340,000. According to documents submitted in March, Samsung employees received an average of 158 million won in 2025. Other estimates, including those from Yonhap News Agency, suggest that in the high-performing memory chip division, individual employees could receive bonuses of around 600 million won. Samsung has not disclosed the specific number of employees in each semiconductor department. This move mirrors the approach of competitor SK Hynix last year, when the company agreed to distribute a bonus. The actual bonus amount from Samsung will largely depend on the company's profitability and chip demand. Samsung declined to comment.
