Google AI Pro's usage rules have changed. Still crossing the river by feeling the stones. Starting May 20, 2026, the Gemini app will introduce a 'compute power-based' usage limit. It’s no longer just about the number of uses. Instead, it will depend on: prompt complexity, features used, conversation length, and the compute power consumed by the model. The quota refreshes every 5 hours, up to a weekly cap. Pro users get 4x the quota of free users. Another change is AI Points. Google will gradually roll out this product-based quota model to Flow and Antigravity. The original 1,000 AI Points included in the basic plan each month will also be discontinued. Moving forward, users will need to purchase additional AI Points to increase their limits. Gemini Flash / Pro, Thinking features, Deep Research, video generation, and 5TB storage are all staying. AI subscriptions are shifting from 'unlimited monthly use' to 'monthly subscription + compute power quota.'
