[SpaceX Discloses Holding 18,712 Bitcoins in S-1 Filing, Currently Valued at Approximately $1.45 Billion]
According to The Block, SpaceX disclosed in its S-1 filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in preparation for its IPO that the company holds 18,712 Bitcoins. The filing shows that as of December 31, the purchase cost of these Bitcoins was $661 million, equivalent to approximately $35,000 per Bitcoin. SpaceX began purchasing Bitcoin in 2021, around the same time as Tesla's well-known $1.5 billion Bitcoin acquisition that year. Since then, the company has reduced part of its holdings. According to Arkham's report, its holdings once dropped to 6,095 BTC last year. On Wednesday, Arkham data indicated that SpaceX holds approximately 8,280 BTC. If SpaceX's holdings exceed 18,000 Bitcoins, it would become the seventh-largest Bitcoin holder, ranking ahead of Coinbase.
